Havdalah Spice Box

This Spice Container resembles the
shape formed by hands cupped to hold
a delicate and valuable object.
The container invites participants to grasp it
and inhale the fragrance from up close, while
parting from Shabbat's holiness.
It is composed of many thin leaves of silver which
form a pod enclosure containing the
Havdalah spices.
The leaves separate to insert or reveal
the fresh spices.
Acquired as part of the permanent
collection by the Israel Museum and
the Jewish Museum in NY.
